virtual chumby

This is a virtual chumby module for Joomla! 1.5. Chumby, the open hardware and open software information/entertainment appliance, now allows users to create and play with a "virtual chumby." Chumby is an alarm clock sized embedded Linux device with a Flash widget player. The widgets are selectable, configurable, and automatically flip cycle.

1. Register at chumby.com
2. Create a channel and choose/configure some widgets. There are a lot, so have some fun with it.
3. Create a virtual chumby using the channel you chose. You can use the generated code in any webpage.

Instructions for installing and using the module:

4. Download and install module package following the standard process (Back-end/Extensions/Install)
5. Search for Virtual Chumby at Module Manager and set module parameters
6. The most important parameter is your channel's id. It can be found in the virtual chumby code:

I'm not sure what link you're asking for. VC is an embedded flash app with some variables that I've put into a module. If you don't want to register at chumby.com you can still use the module (it'll show the default channel).
The image verification system was changed.

I already uploaded the module but the image doesnt change.
It only shows a clock and the images I have selected on the channel
dont show up .
Do you know why? Its something wrong with the channel?
Thanks

Did you set your own channel's ID as parameter?
If yes and the clock widget is the first one in your channel, it's possible that the default display time is too long. You can set it in every widget at the chumby site by my channel menu.
Thanks! :)

Thank you, it works good and the ID is easy to find if you paste it in a text editor first and just copy and paste the code after the %2F just like in your example. Very easy to follow the instructions. I'm ready for a module suffix field or anything else to help it fit some templates. I could find a use just for the flash part without the chumby type if thats possible too. Anyway, nice work, eventually this is something that could go on every website. I love it.
is there a way to have multiple channels in Joomla for Chumley

I want to use this multiple locations by category / section. anway to have multiple channels instead of just one displayed in different parts of my joomla site?
Also, if I just want to embed the code on an article page, how do I do that? my text editor that defaults with joomla doesn't seem to save "embed prefix of code"
Chumby appears on EVERY one of my website pages

Sorry for the late answer, I haven't been following comments on this page lately.
You will need multiple instances of the module with different channel ids. (You can make a copy in module manager).

I also have problems with inserting special code, embedded media, etc. into articles. A possible solution is you set the chumby module into an invisible position and load it inside the article with { loadposition XXX } where XXX is the module position name. Maybe I'll make a virtual chumby plugin for this.

It's a module so you can control that in its settings page: set an access level and/or assign it to particular menu items.

You may want go with embedding code into an article (answer in the previous comment).
